Fostering New Talent: Spotlight on Latin American Composers at WASBE 2026
The WASBE 2026 International Conference in Rio de Janeiro is delighted to present a special program dedicated to the flourishing of new talent in composition for Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble. Recognizing the rich musical diversity of Latin America and the importance of nurturing the next generation of creators, we will host two unmissable events:
Reading Session: Latin American Composers
This session will provide a unique opportunity for conductors, musicians, and wind music enthusiasts to experience firsthand the vibrant and innovative works of Brazilian and Latin American composers. Through the reading and performance of their compositions, we aim to give visibility to these talents, promoting an enriching cultural exchange and the discovery of new repertoire for the global symphonic band scene.
Composition Workshop for Emerging Composers
Dedicated to the development and refinement of the art of composition, this intensive workshop will offer a space for learning and mentorship for young composers seeking to refine their writing techniques for the instrumental forces of the symphonic band and wind ensemble. Through the guidance of experienced composers and practical sessions, participants will have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge, explore new stylistic approaches, and receive valuable feedback for their artistic growth.
We believe that these initiatives will not only enrich the WASBE 2026 program but also contribute significantly to the development and dissemination of symphonic wind music in Latin America and to the formation of a new generation of talented composers. We invite you to participate in these inspiring sessions and witness the vibrant future of composition for symphonic band!
