79th edition of The Midwest Clinic

WASBE 2026 took part in the 79th edition of The Midwest Clinic, held in December 2025 in Chicago, United States, reinforcing its international outreach and promotional strategy for the congress scheduled to take place in Rio de Janeiro, from July 21 to 25, 2026. Recognized as one of the world’s leading events dedicated to wind music, The Midwest Clinic brought together educators, musicians, conductors, researchers, and cultural managers from around the globe, providing a strategic environment to strengthen WASBE’s international presence.

A global reference in music education, The Midwest Clinic featured a program including lectures, clinics, high-level performances, exhibitions of technology applied to music education, new publications, and extensive networking opportunities, influencing trends and practices in wind music on an international scale.

Throughout the event, the WASBE 2026 booth welcomed visitors from multiple countries interested in learning about the program and distinctive features of the Brazilian edition. The Executive President of the Organizing Committee, Marcelo Jardim, presented the main thematic axes of the congress and emphasized its inclusive character, addressing not only professionals in the field but also social, educational, and community-based music projects.

The institutional agenda in Chicago also included the participation of Danielle Barros, Municipal Secretary of Culture and Creative Economy of Rio de Janeiro, who, alongside Marcelo Jardim, highlighted the importance of hosting WASBE 2026 in the city and the role of the event in strengthening Rio de Janeiro’s international profile as a cultural and musical hub.
