Brazilian Army Symphonic Band
PROGRAM
Created in 2002 by the then Commander of the Brazilian Army, General Glauber Vieira, the Brazilian Army Symphonic Band has performed in the most important concert halls throughout Brazil and has welcomed renowned national and international soloists. Its primary objective is to make music a common good as part of the cultural activities of the Brazilian Army, establishing an artistic and cultural link with Brazilian society and serving as a true strategic instrument for the dissemination of music and the traditions of the Land Force.
Over the years, the Brazilian Army Symphonic Band has received several awards, including “Best Classical Music Project” and the “Special Culture Award,” both granted by the São Paulo Association of Art Critics (APCA).
Currently, its Executive Director is Colonel (R1) Carlos Alberto de Godoy Guanaes; its Artistic Director is Maestro Eduardo Pereira; its Principal Conductor is 1st Lieutenant Marcelo Fontes Higino; and its Assistant Conductor is Subtenente Eliézer Felipe. The ensemble is subordinate to the Southeastern Military Command (CMSE) and is administratively managed by the Brazilian Army Cultural Foundation (FUNCEB).
