Mannheimer Bläserphilharmonie e.V. (Germany)
Founded in 1987, the Mannheimer Bläserphilharmonie is one of Germany’s leading symphonic wind orchestras, comprising around 100 dedicated musicians from the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region. Under the artistic direction of Miguel Ercolino, the ensemble performs the full spectrum of wind repertoire — from classical transcriptions and original works to contemporary compositions and world premieres.
The orchestra has earned recognition through performances at prestigious international events such as the 2024 Flicorno d’Oro in Italy, the 2022 World Music Contest in Kerkrade, and a 2019 concert tour to China. Collaborations with renowned composers including Bert Appermont and Ferrer Ferran, as well as performances with international soloists such as violinist Joel Bardolet and guest conductors like Luciano Pereira, reflect the ensemble’s artistic versatility and global outlook.
Committed to cultural exchange, the Mannheimer Bläserphilharmonie has hosted outstanding ensembles in Mannheim, including Tara Winds (USA), the Royal Fanfare “De Werkmanszonen” (Belgium), and the Fanfare Orchestra De Eendracht Den Ilp (Netherlands).
Nurturing the next generation of wind musicians is a central mission. Through its annual Aufwind competition for school wind bands and beginner ensembles, the orchestra actively promotes youth participation and excellence in music-making.
Its appearance at the WASBE Conference 2026 in Rio de Janeiro marks an important milestone in the ensemble’s ongoing international journey.
