University of New Mexico Wind Symphony (USA)
The University of New Mexico (UNM) Wind Symphony is a nationally recognized, high-level wind orchestra, comprising the most talented wind, brass, and percussion students in the UNM Department of Music. The ensemble’s primary purpose is to prepare musicians for professional careers through the performance of high-quality repertoire. Under the direction of Dr. Emily Moss, the group has performed at prestigious national and regional conferences and has released six commercial recordings, some featuring renowned soloists. The ensemble’s commitment to wind band literature is demonstrated through its participation in commissioning over 50 new works for the genre. Recent performances include a Chamber Winds concert in October 2025 and an “Homage to Bach” concert in November 2025. The UNM Wind Symphony also regularly features UNM faculty members on its recordings and in its concerts. The group’s albums, including Fascinating Ribbonsand Classic Solos for Winds, are available through various distributors.
