Armazém São Thiago, commonly known as Bar do Gomes, is a historic bar located in the Santa Teresa neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro. Established in 1919 by Spanish immigrant Jesus Pose Garcia, it originally operated as a grocery store offering a variety of imported goods. Over time, it transformed into a beloved local bar while retaining much of its original charm and decor.
The bar is renowned for its traditional Brazilian atmosphere, featuring wooden furnishings and walls lined with vintage memorabilia. Patrons can enjoy a selection of cold beers and classic Brazilian appetizers, such as the popular “bolinhos mistos”—crispy fried balls filled with ingredients like pumpkin, sun-dried beef, and bacon.
